Curry Real Estate Services is thrilled that Chairman Emeritus Ray Brock will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal of the 2015 Snake Saturday Parade taking place on Saturday, March 14.

Ray’s selection was announced at the Grand Marshal Celebration on March 5 at Finnigan’s Hall in North Kansas City. Attendees enjoyed food and drinks from area establishments, entertainment and silent and live auctions to raise money for local charities.

“We are proud that Ray was chosen as parade marshal,” said Curry Real Estate Services President Ellen Todd. “Of course, we think his lifetime of service to the Northland makes him a great representative for the parade.”

The parade was founded in 1983 by Mickey Finn, with four floats on display in a motel parking lot that first year. Since then, the number of floats has grown and additional events including a festival with a carnival, children’s activities and a charity cook-off have been added to the fun.

Today the parade features more than 100 floats and attracts an attendance of 100,000 to historic downtown North Kansas City, making it the largest Irish parade and festival in the area. The parade and festival have raised more than $1 million dollars for local charities since its inception.

“I am honored to have been selected as this year’s Snake Saturday Parade Grand Marshal,” said Brock. “This parade is a wonderful tradition in the Northland and has been a family favorite for as long as I can remember.”
