Curry Real Estate Services invests continually to make a difference in it’s communities and has since its founding in 1924. While individual Curry team members and groups involve themselves in multiple causes throughout the area, the company recently has committed its efforts to the following organizations or events:
Gordon Parks Elementary School is a charter school serving 240 at-risk children in the Kansas City area. It was founded int he basement of a church in 1999 by Dorothy Curry and Sue Jarvis and was named after the revolutionary African American photographer, Gordon Parks, who proudly endorsed the school’s mission of educating urban core children to reach their full potential. Bill and Dorothy Curry later bought an unused school building from the Kansas city Public Schools and hired a staff, enabling the school to broaden it’s reach.
Most recently, Curry Real Estate Services employees, friends and family spent a Saturday painting classrooms at the school.
The Harvest Ball is the Harvest Ball Society’s annual fundraiser that takes place in November. Most recently, Curry Real Estate Services served as a table sponsor for the event while Ellen Todd, president, worked on the planning committee. They Harvest Ball Society is the largest not-for-profit organization devoted to raising funds for charities serving the Northland.
The 2014 Run for the Penguins fundraiser for the Kansas City Zoo will see Curry Real Estate Services employees participating in the four-mile run or the one-mile walk benefitting the endangered King Penguin.
